Brushless Motor Build Question
I recently picked up a used 17.5 motor that runs, but when I look closely I can see the stator moving for/aft in the can when I give and let off power. Are the stators normally glued to the outer cans or are they a snug press fit? I don't think a stator should be moving, but thought I'd ask.

I could also be wrong and it works just fine for forever. |
I took the stator out of the can and used a few dabs of glue on the case and slid the stator back in. Hopefully this secures it enough. Thanks.

Might want to use heatsink compound instead of glue.
The stators are usually, 'interference fit', so if tyou need to fill any gaps the compound will be better, otherwise it won't transfer heat out through the can as well. When you check the temp after a run, measure the outside of the can as well as the inside through a vent hole. I usually get 5-7degC difference (hotter on the inside) |
Thanks, I used the thinnest amount possible and only in a few spots just to keep things from moving. I'll be sure to check temps, but in a 12th scale in blinky on 1S things don't heat up much.
