Micro ESC Help me decide which to get.
I had a Novak Atom for my micro but, it fried. I put in my spare Cyclone but I think it is over kill. I also Want reverse. HAs anyone tried the Novak Spy?? I was looking into it but, haven't heard anything about it. I don't like the T.O. Flash and haven't had good luck with the LRP Quantums in any of my 1/10 cars. So $150 beans on a reversing Quantum that I'm not sure I will like is making me nuts.
Any info about the Spy or any others that you can come up with would be appriciated. Thanks, Rob E-mail if you don't feel like posting. |
You don't need the top of the line quantum reverse. I ran a quantum sport in my micro with no problems at all. Doesn't LRP make a quantum sport w/ reverse? I'm pretty sure they do and it should be alot cheaper than $150

LRP do make a micro specific ESC for the Micro RS4, but I personally use the Spy myself with a HPI 6v pack and Orion Elite Mod motor, and have had nothing but fun with the car.....
Currently running it with the reverse locked out though, always me to drift nicely with my sweet drift spec Trueno...:D |
Also the price is a little easier on the wallet for the Spy.
Novak Spy = US$55 LRP Micro Quantum = US$100 (Prices quoted from Stormer Hobbies) |

psychofactor: I use a GM V3r in my micro. It has auto set up and has reverse. The only down side is that they say it can work with only 4 cells, but it doesn't very well. At least mine didn't. So if your running 5 or more cells in your micro you'll be set. Its also nice and small and has solder post for replaceable wires.
Best part is.....it will only run you about $54.99 I attached a pic of mine mounted up in my micro. Its under the bundle of wires right in the middle. Like I said, its pretty small. |
psychofactor: oh, another bonus this speedo has over purpose made micro speedo's like the SPY is that if you ever decide to, you can use it in normal cars. It can work with normal sized motors and cells. I tested it out in my sedan with normal cells and it worked flawlessly. It does have a 19turn motor limit though.
Just food for thought. |
Killer Micro!! Looks sweet as hell in there. I think I might go with the GM V6r or the Quantum Micro or the Novak Spy! Has anyone used all of these and felt a difference in performance. I'm not sure if anyone would considering that these little motors don't draw all that much.
I had a V12 and didn't car to much for that but, That was also in 1/10th touring switching between mod and stock set up was a pain. In this thing It's pretty straight foward I would think. Also, have any of you had problems witht eh front wheels needing to be dremeled out to prevent rubbing |
No, no rubbing on the front wheels of my car. Everything works great.

I recommend the GM 3r.
I have one in my micro and its great!
