Help setup vaterra v100c
 

Hi guys I'm new to this forum and electric Rc cars in general,
I have purchased a pre owned vaterra v100c Nissan Silvia , and I intend on using it for drift, I have recently purchased a brushless and esc combined motor as below,
The Dynamite Tazer Twin 2-1 System combines the motor and ESC inside a single aluminum case specifically designed for the task. Anyway any ideas the best way to set it all and was this a wise purchase over my old brushed motor setup ?

I used to have a Vaterra V100S that I drifted on smooth concrete in a parking garage. I just mounted up a full set of HPI T drift 4406 tires on some HPI rims, set out some soccer practice cones and went at it. There was some initial confusion as to what offset wheels I needed to get a flush stance to fill out the body's fender. As a result, I wound up with a few sets of wheels that I didn't wind up using. Getting the correct offset was only a cosmetic thing. Any of the wheels would have worked - it just wouldn't look as mean as I wanted!

I used a 13.5 brushless, Losi motor that I had laying around, but it was more power than I needed for drifting. I loved the fact that the light load on the motor combined with the freezing temperatures in the garage (I live in Colorado after all) meant that the motor never came close to being warm.

Cool I'll look into those tyres , I'm currently running it on some plastic tyres/rim combo which drift ok but could do with a little more traction , do you recommend Lipo batteries I'm running 7.2v 6cell NI MH batteries which are ok but heard lipo are better

Novak drift spec system.
Hpi T Drifts.
Vaterra aluminum shocks. Though Sprint2 shocks also work.
Savox servo. Don't recall which model but it made huge difference.
100k front diff. 25k in rear diff. Something in that range. Been couple years since I've changed anything.
Hpi E10 body.

Nice drifting !!! Any idea what the standard vaterra v100c diffs are set at ?

Been awhile since seen a new one. But like almost all brands, I think it was just grease. I learned on stock setup, only change was shocks. If only drifted once with others. They gave me 2 suggestions to improve. Better servo. And change diff fluid. Thick infront. Thin in rear. It gives a slight countersteer effect. With true countersteer front and rear wheels spin a different rates.

It's very different from standard 50/50 drifting. They don't drive well in straight line. They want to drift.
I'd suggest limit size of area for practice. If you look, most drift courses aren't big. Simple circles clockwise then counter clockwise. Add figure 8. Then little by little get smaller area. Just takes practice. And it carries over to all RC driving.

What do you think of the Tazer Twin in the V100 Dano?

Been thinking about one for the V100 project car I'm gradually building a pile of parts for so I can rebuild/build up the one I have.
