Gear to lap times, and time over 5 minutes, get a good 30mm fan mounted between 8 and 10mm away from motor can and ideally wire fan to battery voltage.

Gearing to best times might take a few days of track time, but in 17.5 it can help a ton.
what kind of temps are yall starting to be concern with??

I think try to keep it 160 deg and under.

I have a pretty good Yeah Racing 30mm Fan and mount but it is a little bulky as it is that dual fan mount version.

I ordered Wild Turbo Fan Max 3D mount 2015 version and the Windy Fan unit from a seller on ebay last night and it's on it's way.

that is tough to answer because each can is built differently and you are only measuring the surface temp of the can when the stator windings are much higher! I have seen guys comfortable at 180 F or thereabouts.
