the biggest difference for me is wheelbase position and where the weight sits. i run my t4/16 with 90% of the stock setup but push both axles all the way back to shift static weight over the front wheels. makes the transfer to the front under braking less violent. i also started running a slightly longer upper front link to make the front end a tiny bit lazier on initial turnin, but seems to have lots of midcorner.
I don't really dick around with undercharging batteries or any of that, just gear your car up a little higher so the initial hit doesn't immediately break the tires and work on trigger smoothness.
honestly there is no way to make mod easy.. just practice practice practice and learn that throttle control.

Personal choice IMO but I like 18% on HW ESC's on a big track. I'm undecided on smaller carpet tracks.
