Once. I forgot it was on. Didn't hurt as much I imagined though. Once is all it takes to learn not to do it again.

Allright I have a good one. I am first starting out my rc career and I am sitting at the table with my buddy who also races. We are putting our batteries together for the first time. Really very pathetic even with the deans battery jig. Anyways, we are both excited about solder, and how cool it is when it is melted. So, I load up the tip of the soldering iron and it falls off because of gravity and there was just too much on the iron....then a light goes off in my head. This $hit can fly. I load it up again and with a flick of the wrist I sent a blob of boiling solder at my buddy. The funny part about it is the nice welt it left on his neck afterwards...and his crazy reaction. It was so funny, I went to do it again. With a loaded soldering iron I lean it back to flick and well, gravity took over and fell on my arm. I have the scar to prove it. My pain threshold to heat has increased since that day.

A friend and I always pitted together, so we talked a lot. He's talking to me, while I'm wrenching, he's got his maxed out Ungar in his right hand, then attempts to solder and talk at the same time. Laid his iron right on top of his thumb's first knuckle. Smelled horrible.

I always hand the iron to my buddy and say "Is this still hot?" He'll reach for it then he remembers that it's probably still on...

I'll get him one day

It was probably one of the funniest things I have ever seen....until it fell on my arm. Have not been trying to flick solder since.

I have helped two different people at two different times solder motor wires on. Each time a dob of solder has falled onto my knee and now I have a scar on each knee to prove it.

I don't help anyone solder any more.

all i have to say is don't solder with bare feet .

didn't know how sensitive my toes were till that day.
it became a blister and left a nice scar
