BD5-BD7 with 40T pulley and 20T Center pulleys run 189 Rear Belt and 516 Front belts, to answer your questions those are the belts you will need.

There's many variations of the spool, spool pulley and diffs...too many to keep up with. You can mix and match all the front spool and put any 40T yokomo pulley up front. The rear diffs all fit as long as it's they're 40T, in fact I run a bunch of old BD5 diffs on my BD8.

Perhaps I wasn't clear in my questions.
What I was trying to ask is, will the earlier version of the spool, gear diff (which are 40T) and front rear belts be able to fit on the BD8 2017

Yes they will fit, but you have to raise the bulk heads and modify the shock towers.

There are many differences between a BD8 and BD7.

I'm sorry.

You can use the one I posted a couple weeks ago in this tread.
Some say that the the SV is better, but we still run the 34t pulleys and are the n pace.

having updated my BD8 to SV/18 spec it wasnt a huge difference it was just more consistent,
Our setup didn't actually change too much between old car and new car

Yokomo BD8 2018 - Simon Nicholson - Newcastle - 19.11.2017

this is pretty much our go to setup that seems to work everywhere.

When u said modify, it means I need to trim away some of the shock towers for front and back, so that the 40T pulleys can clear it?

As for raising the bulkhead, its both front and back raised by 1mm each end?

TIA

Just buy the 40t upgrade kit, I just did and it comes with everything you need. Shock towers, belts, diff, spool pulley, ball studs and bulkhead spacers. It's like 65 something at amain.

Default AME Brace question

Hi, I just purchased the AME Backbone brace for the BD8 but it didn't come with install instructions. i think i can see where it's supposed to go but the brace is like 2 - 2.5mm thick but the space under the rear motor mount is only 1mm. Am i supposed to raise the motor mount? Anybody have one installed that can give me some guidance?

You have the wrong motor mount. You need to run the shorter mount, the BD8 3017 non pitch control version.

Ran both my 2017 and 2018 bd8s at 2018 snowbirds they were really good. I just want to note that my faster times were done with the 2018. The car is definitely a 10th sec better than the 2017 but a can't explain why they are setup exactly the same. Both have 40t pulleys and pcs. Same esc and swap the same motor and battery between the two. Still both were awesome. Had plenty of compliments on their handling.
tandman and b20btec like this.
