Arrow How does timing affect the motor performance?

How does turning the endbell of a motor (i.e, change the motor timing) affect the motor performance? what happens when the endbell is turned?
Last question, I couldn't find useful information about winds(single, double etc..). Can someone provide me with a picture showing the difference between single and double winds.
Thank you,
