I know KT has been down with the dreaded flu bug that has hit the East Coast pretty hard. Just give him a couple!

Anyone ever heard of "Planned Obsolecence"? U.S. auto manufacturers were accused of it in the 50's.

Now notice, that Tekin NEVER replaced their chargers, but did offer more sensible software upgrades. The same can't be said for Novak. Once a year, Novak is slangin' a new charger. Why?

Nope--

Del Flagg/PDI (Product Design Inc--Redmond, WA) holds that distinction with his MicroZeta line ca. 1988. They had programmable acceleration and braking via DIP switches to access several different maps for each characteristic. They had SEVERAL more maps than my Q2's and GTB's of today and this was nearly twenty years ago! They also were using the lowest on-resistance FETs available at the time, substantially lower than what either Novak or Tekin were using. It was an amazing effort by a man working out of a spare room in his house. IIR his assembly team were literally soccer moms who brought him finished components and picked up a new batch of parts. I was privelidged to work with Del on the development driving and providing input.

Below are a couple pics of the Micro Zetas. Also note the programming box without the red label is one of the prototype pieces. I used these in 1/12th racing (12L at Raceway Hobbies in Edmonds--thanks Dave and Georgia) and off-road in my RC10 at TRCR (Ray Scherr, Nell, Jerry Shea...where are ya--we miss you) and even a fair bit of 1/10 pan. PDI also did a programmable controller in his big aluminum waterproof case that I understand was more successful for the Monster Truck/puller crowd. I never had one of those but I still have my original aluminum case Turbo Zeta that I installed in my very first car ca 1986.

I brought three of his Super Zetta`s ...(1985)

Most still race with resistor`s wiper`s at the time....

A big step ahead back then....

Won me lots of races untill everyone else got wise...

Ah--George, ya got me!! I had the SuperZeta as well. The TurboZeta was the programmable aluminum case model. Good catch!! There was the entry Zeta and the SuperZeta. Weren't those the days? Having fun two or three times a week getting my a$$ handed to me by Dan Smith, Tom Jones, Mike Stanton, et al? Some of my closest racing (while I was doing off-road) was with you--we'd both laugh like hell regardless which of us came out in front. Sounds like some of the current crew there could do with a bit more laughing like that and a bit less puffed-chest posturing.

Hey back atcha Dwayne! Miss racing with you and Terry too.

Hey, now that Tekin are back and are really kind of the "home team" I can justify getting rid of these POS Q2's (and the complete SCREWING I took from them) and try Tekin.

What happened to them? I saw a MicroZeta over in the UK 1988/89 but they seemed to vanish a bit like Tekin, but unlike Tekin they never reappeared.
