You sure? The new tekin spec r motors have a ton more rev than the new fantom V3s. Those motors are a step backwards from the V2s.

There is nothing wrong with the new Tekins. I haven't tried the V3, but am very satisfied with the new Tekin's 17.5 and 13.5... Imagine the Fantoms are good as well.

Are you talking about Roar legal 25.5t fantom motors or 17.5t ??? Roar set new limits on stator resistance for 25.5t(101mohms), 17.5t(35.6mohms), that would make the v3 motors faster than the v2's, but I have seen v2 25.5's with numbers very close to the roar limit, but the 17.5t v2's are not close enough to the roar limit to compete with the v3's...

I’m talking about your generalization about tekins. I’m specifically talking about the new Gen 3 Spec R series 17.5s. They are very good.

The v3 fantoms in that wind don’t seem to have the numbers to compete.

I’d like to see testing on both.

Yes it has been known that the fantom v3R and motiv mcr still have about the same 3080kv at 6A that might make them look weak compared to the R1 v16, muchmore fleta v2, and tekin g3 specR's, but they have a longer rotor(25.7mm to 26mm) compared to the tekin's(24.2mm), R1 v16(24mm), etc... That extra bit more magnet material will give them alot more torque and power to keep your car in front of the pack. You'll have to gear your tekin g3 specR(it says to reduce pinion size 10% to 15% out of the box) much lower just not to burn your motor up, and I have not seen any numbers come out of the tekin boxes to show that their product has been tested.... Most racers know too much about brushless motor tech to buy without those numbers printed on the box, but the choice is always yours of course......
Nick Adams had the the Fleta running 3585kv, the R1 v16 3429kv, etc...I am sure he will test the tekin specR soon, and I think it will also be up there with the other 3400+kv motors, but track results are what really counts....Cheers....
Ps: I have never seen anyone run a tekin 17.5t in tc blinky since 2012, never ever.....That should tell you something......

Tekins new line puts them squarely back in competition. They run well.

A properly geared R1 V16 17.5 in WGT-r is the fastest car on the track down the straight locally. Mind you, the driver isn't so good at corners and is working on getting better. My MC2 is probably second best, but I'm not an aggressive driver and am a tenth or two off a lap on the leader. The two other's with Motivs clean up as they are the best drivers. Relative parity in action. As to the discussion: The stator stack is only 21mm with almost no tolerance, so having a longer rotor may only bring minor returns as it still has to meet the overall standard for magnetism and inductance. Again, building a motor to the recent rotor regulations should create relative parity when looking at the KV ratings. There will be differences in the optimum operating range for timing, but many motors come pre tuned now. If your motor is tuned, you can go up or down a couple degrees and potentially find a setting more to your driving style. I has become a gear to the track and go for it style of racing for most.

I'm currently running a TSR The One F1 25.5 in my Associated F6 with a Hobbywing Pro Stock Spec XR10. The Reedy 3600 Low profile, shorty lipos provide the juice in transverse. The PF 16 body provides lots of good looks with the Toro Rosso 2017 livery. The Montech 2017 front wing and Associated rear wing provide the balance and downforce. I'm @ 1053g using a 95g brass weight shorty lipo sized, inline, to get me up to weight. It currently has CRC premounts to keep the kit it motion.

I've run many kits. I really like this one.

Good to know liljohn... I guess we will be back to 17.5t racing soon with such good parity instead of handouts...
I have a fantom v2 25.5t in my f1 fgx that's on par with all the other brands, eventhough it has to work harder in the fgx.....

Everything has to work harder in an FGX, but they are so much fun to drive! I still have mine.

I know, but I am still up for the challenge. I just hope my fantom v2 25.5t likes to rev as much as the tekin specR's: that's my only chance against the associated F1 car and the other DD cars out there....

They get you in the straight and you get them in the tight corners.

That use to happen in overweight fgx f1 cars. I am hoping to also get them in the straights with my 1050g fgx.....

Just picked up this kit recently for my introduction to F1. It was a really fun build and I can't wait to get it out on the track. For those that have or are currently racing it, what are the spare parts you recommend that I have on hand?
