It won't let me post my logs but I'll give you the number comparisons between the two!

XLX /XL2
Voltage: 33.2/31.9
Ripple: 1.32/2.45
Current: 188.7A/226.7A
Watts: 5056/5777
RPM: 60,226/61,682
Throttle in: 1.887/1.965
Power out: 85.5%/100%

As you can see there's quite a difference! This was also testing the two esc's back to back, XLX first XL2 second with the same batteries!

Pretty big difference but not quite as big as mine. From your test vids it looked and sounded like night and day. I found that a lot of times how it feels and sounds tells whats going on much more accurately than the logs.

I agree! It seems like these logs are hit and miss as far as accuracy goes!

Thanks for the info. The current and ripple aren't that high which makes this even more concerning. Hopefully Castle releases an update soon.

An unlock button that voids the warranty would work. Anything is better than this gutless POS XLX I got tricked into buying.
I am hoping for the best. In the meantime I am going to look into other ESCs.

What is a good upgrade comparable to a Castle XL2 that does not cost an arm and a leg?

The only other 1/5 scale esc that comes to mind is the Hobbywing but I don't know anybody who's tried it for speed runs! Other than that there's always Castle's heli esc's, only downside is there's pretty much no brakes or reverse and you also have to mess with throttle to get them to see 0 at neutral and not 50

The Hobbywing Max 5 200a ESC is also A POS. If you try running more than 1000kv on 8s or 1600kv on 6s the throttle will cut out after 1 or 2 seconds of WOT. Hobbywing told me this is a safty mode it goes into. Did manage 113 mph one time with it on the same setup exact setup I went 134 mph with a XL2. Dont waste your money on Hobbywing either. Only good 1/5 option for speed is XL2 but they are all gone now.

ok how about mgm
http://www.mgm-controllers.com/cars/...ntrollers-escs

Tekin claims the RX8 is rated for 220 continuous amps. it seems almost magical that an esc that small and light can handle more current that the toro brick.

I've heard good and bad things about MGM, I believe they also have fail safes in place, not to mention they're expensive as shit

I have a,xlx, and I am also extremely disappointed in your findings. I have only done one test run on 3s. I found a few places online that still have xl2 in stock. My question is does this de tune effect these older stock xl2 ecs? Any feedback would be great.

Thank you Mr.phildogg, not happy about situation, first build for speed run and now this. Think I will break down and buy xl2, come to far to turn back now. Are there any other big ESC that anyone has had luck with? Seen many options, 300/400 amp, most are for heli or boat. Alien? Vxp? Any suggestions or opinions would be great.
