different. I wonder how you tension the belt? Maybe with the idler pulley next to the motor? I'd like that over using the diff mount cams on the bulkheads.

Looks like a losi xxx-s drivetrain. Hopefully it wont have the same issue of slowing down during turns.

im guessing similar to the recent trend in offroad buggies.. not necessarily the same layout, but a similar concept..
low grip, medium grip, high bite. motor placement was rear, mid and mid-forward... i think a few of the current 4wd offroad buggies have the ability to choose the option of running a shorty pac or full-size/saddle pac and how you place your motor in the car (fore/aft) determines which battery you can run...
