If you think you need primer, then you're probably not aware that you're supposed to paint these shells from the inside. If you're using more than one colour, try to paint the darker colours first. There are plenty of how-to videos on YouTube.

You don't use primer. You wash the inside of the body, apply the window masks on the inside of the body, lightly scuff the remaining exposed area on the inside with Scotch-Brite, wash it again to remove any dust from scuffing, and then paint it with whatever color(s) you want. Then you back it with base white or base black depending on whether you used a light or dark color for the paint job. Then you let it dry overnight and remove the window masks in the morning.

...assuming it's a clear body, that is. If it's an opaque body then obviously you have to paint the outside.

When painting the inside, you paint the accents first. Everything goes in reverse order. But it all works out if you plan ahead.

I usually brush paint the roof (I use painter's tape to mask), grill, turn signals, and arches first. Then spray later.

I am very picky about the appearance.. check out my albums page for other pictures. I only run the Tamiya Rover Mini bodies on my m-chassis including m-chassis from other brands.
