Nobody has mentioned heat. Does a 2S set-up run hotter, cooler, or about the same as an equivalent 1S?

Honestly. Starting the first run tire size 40.8
Gear 78/40. Was a little hot. 46 degrees on motiv mc2 17.5

Went to 40/88. Was too bad. But car was spooling up better

39/88. Even better
No fan on speedo or motor at the moment

I'm gonna do some 6 min runs on Wednesday. And will temp after run

Using a reedy 510r. Motiv 3900 defy slim shorty
Motiv mc2 17.5. Ht rotor

I have a ts 17.5 motor coming with 3 line rotor to test also
Along with a smaller rotor mc2

I think the smaller rotors may run more effecient. But will see

If tgere are guys out there. That have multiple 1/12. This is def something to try. The setup not too different because weight is basically the same

We are gonna try the pf12 body also. To see how they handle. But the pro lite bmr.1 was pretty dialed. And I'd imagine a amr would be as well

The Beutiful thing is the spec tire

Imo

Hey Lonny, the Bantas dont need fans on their Tekin ESCs when running 2s/13.5, but I do on my LRP when running standard mod. ESC is hotter than the motor in mod 1/12, at least for me.

For motors of equal power and efficiency, the ESC will run cooler on 2s vs 1s since the current is halved. The wires will also be cooler, but typically that isn't a concern, regardless of battery type.

Default 1/12 2s mod motor experiment

I had been running 2s with an old LRP 17.5 on my 1/12 and found its too slow and getting quite hot. I wonder if I can gear it properly to run a 7.5t with the 2s?

I prob start with the smallest pinion that will mesh up with the spur.

If you don't go crazy with timing etc. I think you should get something that will work. But be warned, it will be damn fast!

As a comparison, I ran an 8.5t on 2s in my 1/12 last weekend at TQ Raceway in Chino. In the main I went with a gearing of 24:90 (37mm rollout), static timing of 24°, 15° Boost at 20k rpm, and 20° Turbo using a Tekin RS Gen2. No temperature concerns with the motor or esc (Below 150°F).

I know there was lots of debate on this thread about 2s vs 1s lipo motor speeds.

I am confused because with the voltage booster on 1s would make 7.4v = equal 2s voltage at 7.4v wouldn’t it be virtually the same?

The booster is only for the receiver and servo or anything connected to it.
Will not affect motor voltage.

I have some older T bar AE cars. 2S is great for balancing as you can run 2 1S packs in saddle configuration.

2cell 25.5 is a fun at practice. I've never raced 25.5 in the U.S. only Japan.

ROAR 25.5 motor rule is very restricted and it provides racer for each motor has the same performance: 101m-ohm resistance and 12.3 rotor.

I have attended 12th 17.5 race since over two years. Motor trend change, Trinity D4 or rev tech? second batch, Reedy Mach, TSR1.0, MC2 or R1 v16, and then Monster, 2.0 or others. I spent much money on the motors. 12th 17.5, local track but top level, needs new motor every six months or less.
2 cell 25.5 is the most compatible with the economics. 17.5 isn't.

Several tracks, including the one where I race, are adopting a spec motor rule as a way to avoid the need to continuously spend so much $$ trying to keep up with the latest and greatest 17.5 motors. Seems that lots of folks have come to the same conclusion ...that if the activity isn't somewhat affordable that it will die a slow death. The spec motor races that I've attended have been fantastic.

Can anybody tell me if I can use a 2s esc for a 1s battery? If yes. How?
it’s a Tekin RSGen2 spec esc. Thanks

you have to use a 1S booster for most 2S ESC to work properly on 1S power. there is a WIKI that lists them in the long running 1/12th thread

Dayem, I know this is out of context for this thread but this sure looks like it will fit my Tyco Turbo Bandit truck that was meant for using 9.6v nicd using 8AA cells.
