Default Longer TC Races...

Now with todays new high capacity batteries and superior equipment we all use ,I see no reason why we can't extend the TC races a min or two.
5 min races are just way too short, sooo......lets start a push to have this rule changed!! This needs to be changed!!!
I feel 6 or 7 min would be fine.
We can make this happen.
Anyone else?????

Already tried.

I submitted a rule change proposal to ROAR, requesting that they put it on the ballot to allow the membership to vote and decide for themselves.

I'll let you figure out what happened.

If it's going to happen, it's going to need to be done on the local level. I know the Florida State Series is considering going to 6 minute races for Stock Touring Car.

This is what I don't understand. We all want more track time so what is the big deal to extend the TC races by AT LEAST a minute.
The cars can handle it...The motors can handle it...We all know the batteries can handle it....so lets do it.
I really hate checking my packs after a stock run and seeing almost 200 sec. of WASTED potential runtime left in them.
If ROAR wants to leave it at 5min.so be it.
We will just continue to prove that we are a bunch of pansies considering they run 8 min.mod races overseas.!!

That's what I thought too. ESPECIALLY for the guys in off road!!!!

But the powers-that-be decided that we're all incapable of determining what's best for ourselves.

It would never work at major events. These races are already way to long (see the thread) and adding another minute to all the TC races would just make the problem even worse.

Do the Japanese run for 8mins (touring), if so why can't we?

Do you really think that adding one min.will cause that much of a problem???
I was at Cleveland last weekend. There was a bunch of wasted time between races and heats. Tighten up how the races are run then there will be more than enough time to add a min or two to all the TC classes.

5 minutes is fine.....provides for good tight racing, less wear and tear on parts (most of which are designed for 5 minute runs, like tires, motors, etc)....and as it sits right now, there is no runtime war with packs......trust someone who has been racing for almost 20 years.....runtime wars suck.....we used to dump in offroad stock.....right now you can charge like crap, take care of your packs like crap, and gear like crap in stock.....and you still won't dump.....

Not to mention it increases the race day time.....big events will have to limit entries, thus costing track owners money....

Not looking for a 3min increase.Just a min or max 2.
Still haven't heard any good reason why this couldn't be done.
It's only a minute!!!!

If you want it changed you should ask your local track to change it. Most don't strictly follow ROAR rules anyway. I am pretty sure SoCal Raceway ran 4 minute heats even after ROAR went to 5. And some already run 6 minute stock heats.

Tracks follow their own rules, they don't need a ROAR rule to spur a change to their race times. Of course you are asking the track to be open an additonal 30 - 60 minutes (10 heats x 3 rounds x 1 or 2 min). Or more depending on the track and number of heats. The track will have to pay for that somehow - higher entry fees?

I don't see any good reason that TC races could not be extended 1 or 2 minutes. I think it would be really good for the several people that usually get punted in the first corner. This way they would have a good opportunity to get back to the head of the pack.

At higher levels of competition......if you get punted in the first level of competition, you will rarely, if ever see that person catch back up....right now, you usually see the top 3-5 on the same lap by the end of the race.....in gas, with 10 minute heats......often yer lucky if the top 2 are even on the same lap....

Besides.....watching a 1/12th scale stock main for 8 minutes is slow enough....especially in qualifying, when nobody is racing really....its PAINFUL....like rectal exam painful.....now we need to suffer watching the sedan guys too?

Sorry, would rather see the closer racing.....with less wear on equipment, tracks making more money, with a shorter race day......

I guess the REASONS are falling on deaf ears....

The only reason I am hearing to change is cause we have more capacity in our packs.....
