Thank you Shookie for standing up for me.

Syndrome, yes I was told by Steve W. it was a little slower, but I still wanted to try it. I figured I would practice with it to cut down on maintenence and just work on set up for race day. But until the 4.5 comes out, I can't even practice with it.

At Socal in pro mod you have to push for every tenth of a second. Running a motor that much slower will have a drastic effect. I understand the concept of "slower is faster", but here, slower will just get you lapped.

everythingsale, you made my point. I am not a better driver than Numan, Weiss, Hodapp, Caster, or Baker, so I need all the motor I can to try to stay up with them.

The motor is undoubtedly very powerful.

The new cooling fan seems to have cured most of the thermal shutdown issues.

If I was in the market for a brushless I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the new Novak system.
Run my GTB 5.5 first time in my pro4 today and were impressed.
The throttle was very smooth, the drag brake really come in very handy and moreover it is programmable.
I could keep up with the 8 turns in my local track and darn was it fun.
The motor and esc remain warms and not hot at all.
Furthermore my gearing was really conservative, top speed still can be improved.

WELL DONE NOVAK ...

Default It can be just as fast

I guess any motor, may it be brush or brushless the batteries would still make a big difference and I have tried and managed to pull along side a 6 * 1 with a ratio of 8.5 with my GTB system running at 7.75. So all I can say is it depends on the combination. But I will have to admit that the brushless arena would take more time to mature, i.e. world class drivers using it at big events. I think it would be the ultimate combo once all the system hickkups are solved. I can't wait for the 4.5R.

Does anyone know how fast the 5.5r can get a car up to?

I had fun working out the speeds based on the 5800's Kv ratings.

Seeing as Novak won't release them for the new 6.5R and 5.5R I feel a bit left out!

how about a [email protected] overall gearing or rollout... maybe we can get an approx. Kv working backwards..

Cheers!

I think the GTB/5.5 when geared properly is extremely quick and very well might be as fast as a 7 turn...... But it is very hard to tell as they act totally different the brushless is very torquey and reacts totally different than any other brushed motor. It does take some time to learn how to drive it.
