Im trying to find a place on the chassis to mount my personal transponder. I notice by the photos that most of you guys mount them on the servo.

Wouldn't the effects of metal gear servos cause an issue with the PT signal?

Just want some opinions if anyone has had any issues with the PT not being picked up (or not having a strong signal) when mounted on the servo.

I like to mount mine "hanging" off of the servo with a piece of graphite or lexan. When it is hanging over "air", it has the best chance of being picked up if there are problems. This is especially useful if you run modified, because it has a better chance of being picked up if you dump. AFAIK, this is why a lot of top drivers (who run mod) hang their PT's off the side of the car.

At a club race in TN early this year, a kid had stepped on the connector for the AMB loop, making the connection very weak. My car was the only one that would check in before the race .

Having a track in your backyard is dialed! Do you hold races back there?

Thats the kind of stuff I want to make when I get my own place

I always wondered why the pros hang their transponders off a piece of lexan like that....This is why I still visit the XRay threads, always learn something in here
