Default RAdio Shack

I was in Radio Shack about a month ago talking about RC, RC lights, etc...

What came up was dumping batteries. I am guilty like everyone else in throwing them into the landfills. The guy at Radio Shack said they would take batteries and recycle them. Well I went in today with over 100 sub-C batteries and they took them no questions asked.

Just some useful info, this will be my future trend for battery disposal.
Just about every town has a Radio Shack.

Jeff

I heard that Ni-Mh are OK to throw in the trash, only NI-Cads need to be properly disposed of. Anyone?

no batteries are safe to be thrown in a landfill.

its true that ni-mh are less dangerous to the environment while charging but you should never just chuck batteries in the trash.

most electronics/electrical retailers will have a battery disposal service thingy...and some hobby shops ie radio shack over in the US)

I try to take my old Nicads to radioshack. They always take them. Question is: Do they just toss them in their trash can?

Both the Home Depot and Lowes near me have drop offs for battery recycling.

They have a special green can they put them in which is picked up by an unknown service.

Awareness is a good thing and it is a new disposal habit I am forming.

Do these drop-off sites require single cells or can you drop off an assembled pack?
