A1GP... now thats an idea!

Tamiya can easily make a shell of the A1GP car and the wheels from the old F-1 series would work on it.

since the A1GP chassis is a spec chassis, the only organization that Tamiya needs to get the license from would be the A1GP group itself...

For A1GP all Tamiya would need to do is create decals for each country in the series. How could they not make money? Too bad they couldn't do a real lemans style race. Mix the LMP's with the GT classes during a real race.

A1GP good idea
Strange how Japan does not actually have a team in A1GP, so they probably don't know about it.

My car with Brushless fitted (flash not working on camera).
Brushless set up car fully wired, so it was fitted without cutting any wires (except battery wires), this will be corrected later after I've checked it all works ok.
Note that annoying tab on the motor, just in the wrong place for the Courage shell.

Here a picture of my F103GT.

My setup is:

TrakPower 4900mah Lipo Pack
Novak Brushless GTB 7.5R Set
Carbon Chassis
48pitch Gears (NOT Tamiya gears)

There's no TCS or TAC (Tamiya Asian Cup) here. Otherwise, I will stick close to Tamiya specs.

Just ask any questions, if you have any doubts.

Hey NiMo!

You do not want to place your GTB Switch at that place. Upon collision, the switch may be damaged.

13.5R is a good choice.

You may want to turn the ESC around 180 degrees so that the motor wires faces front.

they actually did...

Japan fielded an A1GP team on the inaugural year of A1...

but their effort wasnt so competitive...

and so for the 2nd season, they did not participate... but they indicated that they MIGHT have another go next season...

Switch is safer than it looks, would need the shell to be ripped of the car before the switch is hit.

I did try to fit the ESC the other way around, but it simply did not fit without wires rubbing on the chassis plates, hence it taking nearly 7 hours to install.

British TV didn't show the first year, so only saw this last (2nd) series

They've have broadcasted all the races from the get go on Sky Sport. I've watched every race so far that they broadcast here in the UK.

From the picture you'd provided, I can really see if your car has the Tamiya Carbon Chassis.

When you have the Carbon Chassis installed, you can try not to install the upper deck that runs to the servo mount. The Carbon Chassis alone is stiff enough to do the job. Hence you will have more space for the wires. Please refer to my picture.

Hope it helps!
Alfie

There is a segment on www.rctvlive.com that covers a Tamiya direct drive car that may be of interest to some of you. I actually wish they still made this one!
