That's fantastic.

Any plans for racing endurance races with your fellow GT's? Or mixing classes like ALMS?

I think what we will do is go to 15min. races and have courage bodied cars running 23T and have the GT (Ferrari, Porche etc.) bodies limited to Mabuchi/Johnson and a set gearing making for a scale sprint race like the ALMS.

So far we have been gridding up and running for about 20 min. and just seeing who dominates in that time and regroup if the field gets too spaced out.

I think this weekend we will have the highest turn out yet. I may just have to bring a camera and start posting on the Tamiya track thread.

Since we we all run Johnson and Li-Po so we are ready. So it is just a matter a calling out "let's go" and there is now "wait I am still peaking" or )" I need to change brushes" etc. that slows things down. LOL! Man, I do not miss the old days.

That's cool. Motor/battery maintenance is for the dogs.

We're not all in Lipo land but those who are have ballast to make up the difference between lipo/nimh.

The shortest race we will run will be 30 minutes for Porsche Cup (GT/540 Mabuchi). The P1 class we haven't decided the details but the P1 (Courage/TZ with 0 timing or black can/Any tire) races will be an hour with possible driver changes... something to work out during the winter. I think our racers will like to have at least one car that doesn't require so much prep time.

Pictures would be sweet.

We'll post pics too once we get started.

Set gearing is cool. We'd probably have to set a gear ratios since some are in love with their paticular brand.

Small line up of Porsche Cup F103GT's

Creative use of the pre painted body. I am beginning to believe that this class is going to be huge. It is true that you can get alot of different looks by doing different schemes, but really, who wouldn't want Tamiya to do an R10 or an RS Spyder, or a Dome or a Lola? The Courage is a gorgeous car, but if this is going to be a class, then give it its due, give the racers a choice. Maybe everyone will still run the Courage, but I think more people will run if they can have something different.

Agreed. One of the things that made the F101/102/103 races so much fun is that there were more than a dozen different body and wing sets out there, so people felt free to be creative and experiment with paint jobs and color schemes. Same thing with the first run of TA01/02 sedans from Tamiya back in the early 90's: lots of different body styles on the same chassis. At the time a lot of people gave them a hard time for using the same chassis, but I seem to remember a lot of sedan races where everyone drove a different type and color of body.

Something to think about...

OK, I didn't ever think I'd say this but...I want a friggin' Lola. Not the ugly ass doorstop 1/8 scale style that they haven't raced since the 70s. I want a real one, like an EX257 or a B06/10.

I not saying it isn't a legal 540 it just looks like a much older model being that the endbell is silver. I thought maybe you had one from way back in the day.

All the motors I have gotten in kits for the past several years whether Johnson or Mabuchi have had black endbells.

The requests have been going into Japan for many weeks now and I am sure Tamiya is seriously working on this. I am not sure however what hurdles due to licensing are being found though as in the last couple of years licensing prices have skyrocketed. This is why you do not see as many truly scale bodies coming from the industry as a whole. The best thing I can say is money talks and if you want scale only bodies then only buy licensed scale bodies this is the strongest signal to send.

Yep M04M issue, the new cans are not a polished can either. Seemed to have torque, but not the rpms. of the older motors. (did not see anyone use that new motor at the TCS regionals)

(all my "back in the day" motors are 4 vents...not that far back )
