Default Tc6.1 gearing

Getting back into racing, just bought a used Tc6.1 going to run VTA using Tekin 25.5 and Tekin pro esc. Fairly large track, road course with 1 long straight away. Would like to convert from 48 and use 64 pitch gears but don't know where to start. Anyone who can point me in the right direction would be much appreciated.

I'm running a 6.1 in VTA with a Tekin Pro ESC and Novak 25.5 motor. We run a medium size track and I run 48 pitch gears. I run a 72 tooth spur and a 40 tooth pinion. That gives me a FDR of 3.6. However, this weekend I'm going to gear taller with a 69/43 to see what that does for my straight away speed. Since you are going 64 pitch, my 72/40 would be a 96 tooth spur and a 53 tooth pinion.

Thanks glennhl, I was working with charts and figured on trying 96/48--96/51 and see what happens. Thank you glennhl for your help and Merry Christmas.

No problem. You will enjoy VTA with your 6.1, it's still a very competitive car! Have a wonderful Christmas.

you are actually in the range for a 17.5t with that gearing. You are going to want to be in the 3.0 - 3.4 FDR for a 25.5 motor. I run 96/48 in 13.5t on a medium sized track for example which is a 4.0 FDR. 90/54 will get you to 3.33 FDR which is more like a better starting point for the class you are asking about. Some clubs have a set FDR requirement for VTA and such so you might want to check that.
