Out of curiosity, what does yours weigh? Mine is currently at 1,117g
Mine was around 1120g right after initial build and adding some weight for side to side balance, definitely got some weight to shed but I don't mind being a little heavy as long as it's balanced right. I'm a little surprised how big her waistline is compared to other contemporary f1 chassis's... Not really a complaint, just prefer narrow F1 cars, honestly I have NO complaints regarding this car, have yet to get it on carpet, but judging by what I'm reading from other guys, I should be happy with its performance. Can't wait...

I like high visibility cars as they are easier to see on the black carpet. How are you liking your Volante tires? I have a set on my car but prefer the CRC which are faster and more consistent (at least for me).

Our local track is still the original Grey Ozite...maybe CRC but I'm skeptical. Its old. Old. My racing companion ran his last club race and was pleased with them. I have yet to put them to the test, but I'll advise when the time comes.

They definitely look pretty!

I had trouble running 21.5 f1 on grey ozite, but it is much much better on black ft2. That is with crc tires.

Anyone know if VBC is planning to make an aluminium chassis for the fx18?

I wonder when petitrc will come up with an editable setup sheet too

I'd love to know this as well. The Serpent Sf3 comes with an aluminum chassis, no idea if it's a lower center of gravity or different flex characteristics (or a combination) with the aluminum chassis but I found it easier to drive than the sf2 with carbon. I just like to have options too, that way I can blame my bad driving on the Other optional parts that Ive been meaning to order...

CRC pit Shimizu 571)572 and tamiya 1032 1032
All work well on grey and black carpet.
For a good medium to high grip setup you can find my.old lightning fx setup sheet on petitrc as it works very well on grey carpet and well on black with a few tweaks.

Volante tires
I have been testing with
Fms and Crs
The front tired feel nice especially when I tried Shimizu rears. The Crs rears feel a little too stiff and while they can be fast they are less consistency than theshimizu style tire.
Next I will try asphalt soft and see if it works any better

After a couple of races (and a few hard crashes) the only thing that I continually break on the new FX18 are the lower arm pivot ball mounts. I would make sure to keep some spares in your pit box. I've never broken these before on any of my previous VBC F1s and so far on the FX18 I think I have broken at least 4(maybe more). The plastic must have changed for this model.

Another thing to keep an eye on is the screws. Make sure they are tight in between runs. I did use blue loctite on the ones going into metal but they still seem to come lose. Hopefully this is just a problem with a new car but again, I haven't had this issue on my previous models.

Other than that, the car seems to be pretty fast and I'm happy with it so far.

Yeah until I Blue Loctited everything they kept coming loose. But today--nothing got loose and the car worked very well. I learned to drive with drag brake to help turn in!! The car is very tunable-- I've ended up with a very light black spring on the rear shock--soft springs in the front with only 2 degrees of caster. 2 degrees of negative camber and 2-3 degrees of tow out. Stock side springs for now. Car is VERY drivable and turns great. NOW---where is the best place to get parts?? I need another couple of front wings!! TQ doesn't have them-- or maybe the Associated wing will work? But their out of them also. Where's the best parts place for F-1??
