You need to pick your esc from the Roar approved list above all... Lots of secret software out there!!!! None of my Novak Esc's ever blew up... I do run a different esc setup than stock though....

It's digressing from the topic at hand but ok

http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail..._-_Inferno_Gt2

Now back to blinky esc's....

Also tried Speed Passion ESC's when they didn't pop (as a few have) they seemed ok, no different feel to a HW

Muchmore also has two ESC's designed for blinky/stock racing.

I fully agree with wingracer, VTX10be with A55 firmware, on my F1 car with 21,5 of any brand and no choice for the others ......

I can't beat the fastest guys at my local club so I really need this too

I'm hoping it will change the stator of my 13.5 to a 3.5 on the straight!

The BL-SP3 blows other ESC's out of the water when it comes to performance, price, size, and weight. The closest thing to it would be a Tekin Gen2.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RONAv72pNhk

The first time out with this ESC was at the All Japan Nationals. I had no problems with power and speed for my qualifications. Not only that, the ESC never got warm during an 8 minute race. Not only that, it got me into the 21.5 2s stock triple A-main.

Highly recommended. But, it's not ROAR approved.

Excellent ESC for 1/12 2s, F1, and stock TC classes (best would be 21.5, 17.5 and maybe 13.5).

The best information on this subject could probably come from the guys that did the testing for USVTA. Now USVTA accepts any ROAR legal speedo, but prior they did their own testing. I remember a thread a few years back where they mentioned in some of their testing they found an ESC that claim to be blinky but actually had a little built in boost.

My experience is:
Dualsky XC850TF Very smooth, good punch but not Roar legal
LRP Flow Very quick especially with an LRP motor, but braking / drag brake sucks
Tekin RS/Pro Feels like you've added 1kg to the car, lost a second a lap compared to my HW Esc, although Tekin have told me to change a couple of settings which I have but yet to retry.
Hobbywing V3.1 Works really well, very set and forget.

I also find the Hobbyking X-Car esc's loaded with HW2.1 firmware work well for what they are.

Also tried larger esc caps like the SMC one, don't think they make much difference though.
if you had issue with the brake try v4.7 software instead. the 5.4 for some reason had very very soft brakes for me. But 4.7 got the strongest and most consistent braking i've ever experienced. Way stronger braking than HW 3.1 i had for R1 motor.

But there are plenty of other things that can be different between ESCs, hence the interest in threads like this.
I agree, if I where looking for a speed control for blinky, I would shop around and see what the drive frequency spectrum is on the different units. Unfortunately a lot of them won't give the hard numbers but will give punch numbers or something to that effect and really don't tell you a lot.

how bout this question, do u see a difference in performance based on the software loaded in the esc?

for example with the viper, is a55 better than the newer a64 software, do they have the same performance, etc...?
