It even mentions a 'Wireless audio transmitter', then later on in the FAQ tells us they aren't making that part lol
So the box sits beside the track and you have to look at it after, that's nowhere near as good as having it read out on your own phone

If you read some more you can plug a speaker into it or buy your own generic wireless audio transmitter. They explain that this is the cheaper option rather than them make it.

I did read it. But that still means buying extra kit.

I often drive up to WLRC for a bit of practice in my lunch hour. This would be a brilliant accessory. Its a bit pricey for my casual use, but I might bite the bullet. Once the concept is out there the prices will come down.

It doesn't look anywhere near as simple as the iPhone compatible pit pocket. However, if it is cheaper it would be a good option. Any idea on price?

I doubt the Zeppin will cost less, someone else made one similar a few years ago. It was never really popular until after production was stopped.

I cannot find any real specs on the Pit Pocket other than one ir in the output unit verses 2 in the Zeppin.

If you do not have the required Iphone or Ipad then I would think the Zeppin would be the counter of choice. Likewise I think the Pit Pocket would be a better choice if you have the required apple product.

Having to buy the wireless audio trans. is a big turn off for me. But it is also just an option not required.

I do not have the Iphone or Ipad required so for now If I get one of them I only have one choice. After Zeppin releases the price I will decide.

99 pounds on the UK site for the Pit Pocket is going to be hard to beat, I might have to upgrade my phone

Looks cool/useful, if it were compatible w/ Android I'd be more interested.

Is this product offered in the UK only? Anyone know where I can pick this up in the states?

I'd suggest contacting zen to see if they will ship to the U.S.

tbrymer 08-12-2015 12:07 PM

Well I'm glad someone made something like this so I don't have to:) I know about 20 people at my track that want to buy one, so hopefully we can get them in the US soon. I wonder if the codes are programable on the device?

cyclonetog 08-12-2015 12:26 PM

There is a serial number on the bottom of the box. You enter the number into the app on the settings page and that links the box to your device. The IR transmitter is also uniquely linked to the box you get so they are not user programable.

any use reports yet??

tbrymer 08-12-2015 05:00 PM

The only thing that kinda bothers me is that I thought I read that the phone is used for timing. I'm hoping that is just a misunderstanding and the IR receiver actually has hardware that keeps a timestamp before the data is sent over to the app via bluetooth. Otherwise the timing might be off a little more than expected.

Of course we have run the system alongside AMB transponders in various locations and the maximum discrepancy I have seen so far is 0.02s.
Obviously the angle you pass the box will make a very slight difference as it uses line of sight.
If you have ever used 2 AMB transponders in 1 car you will know there is also a discrepancy in that system too!

I've used it a lot, apologies I'm not sure what it is you are asking?

silden 08-12-2015 11:28 PM

I ordered one from Zen and already downloaded the latest version of the app.
I have only one question:
how can I change the practice/ race duration on the app. I haven't found it in the setting.
It always says last lap at 5 minutes, but we ran 6 minutes for TC and 8 minutes for 1/12.
Thank you
