are all the plugs secure?
Balance plug secure and attached to charger?
Did you set to the correct 1S-2S-3S setting?

is there any kind of date marked on the battery? wondering if they were manufactured long enough ago that all the energy drained to the point of being too low to be usable?

Thanks yes i pressume i set the charger correct at 5.0 amp and 22.2v for the 6s all wires are correctly plugged in.

After about 30 seconds the charger started smoking and caught fire managed to get it out the house before anythink major happend.
They were brand new from hobbyking cannot see any date marked on them

Maybe, just maybe it's your charger. What kind/brand of charger did you purchase?

It could be overrated.

When low voltage comes on your charger. look into individual cells. One of the 6s cells reads a few tenths lower then 3v. You must get it above 3v for it to charge.

If you have a multimeter check the voltage manually for each cell.

Hi all

The charger i was using was a supermate dc6 which came with the car when i bought it,

Not had any problems charging my 4s lipo batteries,

However not sure if its normal the charger has been getting very hot when charging, also the 6s lipo has swelled ,with my 4s lipo i could only charge the 1 then having to leave the charger for an hour or more to cool down before i could charge another,

The 2 lipos i have were brand new from hobbyking and that was there 1st charge

Is it normal for a brand new lipo to have one of its cells lower ?

Now looking for a new charger can you recommend any

Thanks all for replies

Its not the charger, its the lipo. You probably use them a lot b4 your cutoff on ESC. Go into Balance on charger. and see what the voltages are on each cell. one cell probably reads 2.9 or lower. Check your cutoff on ESC, set to 3.6v. The thing to do is getting the cell to 3v. Try charging the cell at 1amp it may charge to 3v. then fully charge them to 5000mah.
