Default 2015 IIC INTERNATIONAL INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS INFORMATION W/SCOTTY ERNST

I wanted to take a moment to update everyone on the status of the IIC. As most of you know a bombshell was announced a few months ago that our beloved Riviera, the last iconic casino on the strip, would be torn down to make more convention space. This was unexpected, even to my contacts at the Riviera. It caused me immediate concern because I know how hard it was in the past to find a proper home for the IIC. Yes there are a lot of places that have convention space, but the important parts of producing an event include dates, costs and seniority. At the Riviera, we were one of their favorite groups. In 8 years, we always took care of our space, our attendees were some of the best behaved guests they had with zero security interactions and the workers at the Riviera just liked working with us. Sure it was an older hotel, but it had a
vibe that fit our group well.

So upon hearing the news of the closing, I immediately went on a search for a
new home. During this time I found out the hardest part was finding dates available in October that we could use. We use an odd schedule compared to most events, since we need the space for 9 days. This included build days and tear down. Most events start midweek and then finish on Sunday so to find space open for 9 days was extremely difficult. We are also a brand new event now to these hotels, without seniority and past experience so we are starting at square one with them.

After I have exhausted all options I have had to make the extremely difficult decision that 2015 will not have an IIC. Hard for me to put that in words but looking at all conditions, situations, racers vacation planning at this late of a date. I feel this is the right decision for 2015. Of course the show must go on and I am currently working with many hotels on dates for 2016 and I hope to have that set in the coming months. This is a decision that I did not make easily.

I know many of you have scheduled vacations around the IIC and some have even purchased plane tickets, but for me to take dates not our normal and sign a contract with a hotel with extremely difficult conditions could be devastating to me and the IIC event. I know many will be disappointed and I am sorry I could not find a solution for this year but we will work extra hard to make the return of the IIC in 2016 bigger and better than ever.

If you have any questions or thoughts, Please feel free to send me an email at
[email protected] and I will be happy to answer them. I am again truly sorry that this is how it had to play out this year, but we did not have many options to be able to produce the quality event that all of you are accustomed to attending.

Thank you for your understanding and years of support for what we always
hoped was the best RC experience you have ever attended.

Sincerely,
Scotty and the IIC team.

I have only manage to make 1 race, but I have to say it was the best RC event that I have attended. I will do my best to be at the 2016 race. Thanks Scotty for doing what you do.

Well Scotty, we are all disappointed but know you will get it done next year! When IIC returns it will be bigger and better as you say. Thanks for the update.

See you and the crew at Reedy Race Of Champions 2016. For those of you that haven't done RROC, don't miss it. It is a great event.
