It's an old motor from the 90's. Brand new in 1995, it fetched a price of about $50 US. It was featured in Tamiya catalogs as an improvement over the standard Mabuchi Silver can motor.

Based on the fact that it looks used and is definitely not a New in Box collectible, you'll be lucky to get $2 for it.

There's quite a big collectors market for old Tamiya motors (and most old Tamiya parts pre 1990-ish). I suspect it would fetch much more than 2 dollars on the well known auction site.

NIB tamiya vintage has a decent market value.

This motor in question has an armature can that has seen better days. If the can looks like this, then the armature and commutator may be in similar condition.

You are right, that there may be a willing buyer on the open market who wants to put a beat up dyno tech into a beat up frog or Manta ray. But the same result could be achieved by printing a sticker and placing it on any old Yokomo based motor.
