Default Ozite

have you ever run your mini-z on a carpet track? I know everyone swears by the RCP tracks I just wondered what other surfaces if any you had luck with.

I've raced on almost all surfaces ( carpet; ozite and CRC, gray mat, RCP high traction ( the most commonly used ), RCP low traction ( the flipside of the high traction mats ), and smooth asphalt. Surprisingly, my car handled very well with the right tire combinations and suspension set-up.

Default Maybe wishful thinking

I have a concrete patio which is about 20 x 25 with 15x6 walkway. I have been working on filling in the cracks and irregularities. I would like to finish it next month. I think i am going to use garden hose with the spiral pattern on it for barriers After I have a smooth clean concrete surface, I want to use some kind of paint or other surface treatment on it, maybe the no stick sand stuff.

I worry because no one seems to have been successful with concrete as a surface and being outdoors there is no way of getting rid of the tin grit which is not a problem for 1/10 but maybe a problem for 1/28. Also I have been told that asphalt and concrete are very abrasive on mini-z tires.
-----------------------------------------

I got some cheap mats at big lots not enough for full course but enough to test, the rubber mats really work well, but even the Generic mats are expensive, the RCP are great looking. I want to make a big track and RCP would set me back a grand.

I am guessing but.....Given the very small footprint of the tire it seems to me that the mini-z needs an extremely uniform surface, the slighted variation in traction seems to cause major steering problems. I noticed this trying to drive the car on office carpet.
