Can you recommend me a 64 pitch (0.4 Module) gear ratio? I don't know too much about gear ratios.

The gear ratio needs to be a stock motor, medium track sized ratio. It doesn't have to be a perfect ratio for it.

If I am not mistaken, last I read a 04-pro manual, it states with the sports tuned motor, the recommended gearing is 120 spur with a 38t pinion. I got recommended by some peeps to use 120/40 for "general usage" with the sports tuned.... check your manual. Any 04 drivers care to suggest the ratios and track u are running on?

Depends what motor your running.
I was recommended 12T motor with 120spur/33-35pinion

use 4.8-5.2 FDR for o4 with sport tuned
or ... gear combination of say 108 / 45
u will get 5.112 FDR

trust me it will b SMOKIN FAST !

We switched to 48 pitch gears after stripping too many spurs. With 12 and 14 turn motors we use 96/22-25. Seems to work well.

The TA04R kit is awesome. Wish I had known about it before buying my 4Pro and hopping it up. A friend who placed second at the TCS Nats ran the kit and says the carbon tub is stiffer than the plate chassis, even the saddle pack one. We just rebuilt ours to use the Pro kit bottom stick pack plate and graphite top plate, which is stiffer than the saddle pack set up.

I ran my 04r last night, amazing car. with final drive of 7 (128/39) on a yok 23t js. I didn't have that much top end as the neo geared at 6.5 but whoa the pick up is zippy and turning radius is damned tight! Can't wait to try it tonight at the track. Setup is stock except for tightness of diff and usual -1 camber all around.

Even with the graphie lower deck and plastic shock towers, the car still came in at 1.65 kg

you are way undergeared. 6.4 - 6.6 range will be just nice for bashing. carpet racing, we use 6.6 ...

Hello.

I have a question for all you prud TA04R owners.

I would like to purchase a TA04R (and fully option it out later). How do you feel about it? Is it compareable to say a TC3 or XXX-S? Hows the handling? Is the drivetrain quiet (I'm looking for a really quiet car, too )?

I have the TA04R as well as the TC3. Performance wise, i would say the Tamiya handles better but the TC3 has better acceration. I really like the tamiya because it is very smooth and quiet. It is a really nice car. It is also A LOT tougher than the TC3. Yet to break an arm!!! and i've broken aobut 4 TC3 front arms. Overall, very good car with good performance, and good durability.

No body here will tell you to get any car other than 04R...even I won't because its looks good and runs well!

TA04R is a truly race-ready car. Most of the important hop ups are already inculded in it.

this car will be great for Tamiya's TCS GT2 racing. it's a tube chassis and race ready.

I'm going to convert my Pro to an R type chassis by adding the reinforced tub and graphite top plate for next year's outdoor season. Just got word that the lightweight diff outdrives are on the way to me.
