Spektrum dsm or others?

I want to use the dsm.
should I buy the cheap one and add the dsm module? or just buy the DX3 3-Channel DSM Transmitter w/ SR3000 3-Channel DSM Receiver ?
are the dx3 as good as other transmitter?
thanks

Not sure what you mean by buying the cheep one and then a module. Really it all depends on how many cars your own, or will ever own at one time. I have seen a few DSM transmitters at the local track, and from what I've seen they resemble the old style JR radios. They seem to be holding up well, and use the same receiver as all the other systems. The only down side is the 3 model memory, well atleast for me it would be. If your never going to own more than 3 models its a great buy. If you go the other route and get say a used M8 for $150 you'd still have to fork out $140 for the DSM system, but then again you would have alot more model storage. You have to ask your self whats right for you.

I thought about getting the DX3, but I realized I could buy a cheap radio that's much better and get the Spektrum for roughly the same amount of money. Case in point: I bought a KO Mars for 100 with a reciever & crystals. This was enough to get me by. I've seen Spektrum units for the Mars/Mars R go on eBay for around 120-130, which would be 230 for a really nice radio. I've seen Mars' go for even cheaper now. I believe one was posted on here for 60 shipped. Add a 140 (we'll be REALLY generous) Spektrum set up, and you have the price of a DX3, with 10 model memory, and racing features out the ______ (insert your appendage here). While I still haven't got my Spektrum, the KO Mars is an amazing radio, and I have absolutely no regrets about buying it. There's a lot of better long term routes you can take in regards to getting a Spektrum, and I think the DX3 is not one of the best routes.

I just got the Hitec Aggressor SRX for $100 and the Hitec Spectrum module for $100 (I already had the receiver). They seem to work well together and the SRX has some extra features over the Spectrum radio, like exponential. If you want a new radio, this is probably the best budget choice.

I've been running a KO Mars for 7 years now, I think it's the best radio ever. I still haven't picked up a DSM yet but it's next on my list.
