Come on with the "Come on"
These are meant for use with low turn motors where there may be cases that the positive wire comes off because heat. I for one will certainly pick one up as soon as they become widely available. |
Actually they work pretty good. I felt a few at the on-road nats right off the track and they were as hot as the motor!! Even Charlie from Novak said it was a good idea...The cooler the speedo and motor are the more effecient its going to be.
I remember when the Orion Revolution came out how many guys lost races because the motor got hot and came unsoldered...This will fix that without a doubt!!! EA |

Wow that is a lot of money for a piece of aluminum. Being that close to the motor they could just as easily pick up heat from convection as they could from conduction. If you burn off a motor wire, use better solder. Could also be a great source of interference not to mention an easy way to short out your controller.

The MMR Wire Heat Sink is pretty much made for modified racing. It is not uncommon now for mod racers' wires to come unsoldered during a high competition race. This is why you see some factory guys solder thier brush shunt to a splice in the wire rather than directly on the endbell (so if the wire comes unsoldered, the brush will still have a connection). The anodized surface is non conductive (as with the MMR Battery Heatsinks, team checkpoint endbells, etc.); so no, it will not short out your motor. :tire: :tire: |
i used to play around with a 6x1 in a sedan and it would get hot enough to melt the positive wire off. with these new batts. and low turn motors i think it isn't a bad idea. way over priced though.

bro - some guys at team xray were using that over at the iic and if i am not mistaken hara was using one aswell. nexus is right it is non conductive. just like the orion endbell. it being anodized removes its conductivity. pull out your tester and see for yourself. IMO this was made to lessen the heat transfer from the motor to your precious esc via wire. its electronics 101. |

I've unsoldered the positive lead with 7 & 8 turn motors a few times and it sucks! I'm sure this works but I haven't done it since I put a fan on the car to blow air on the end bell. It seems to have solved the problem and keeps the rest of the motor cooler as well.

We actually sold quite a few of these at the IIC, and decided to keep them in stock at the store. I would think that if you're racing outdoors on a hot day, and your car (like most) is already underweight, it's worth adding whatever cooling you can.
