what i dont get is you said shaft cars are better in slower speed and belts are better in high ends... but wouldnt it be the other way because when you are getting faster your RPM's is also increasing therefore the belt will have more stress and then sretch out but the shaft will keep the same efficiency when the RPM's are going up so that would mean no acceleration or decceleration will drop what so ever

ESC drag brake is only works when you move the trigger to the neutral position. So it is the same as "automatic braking" not an "engine brake" or faster decceleration feeling... Each other is different. As far as I know, only a very few people use drag brake on their ESC.

From my opinion, yes shaft driven car has more acceleration but as the speed goes up the friction is still nearly the same since the beginning while belt driven car has lower acceleration feeling (belt need to stretch first) and then has less and less friction when the speed increasing. Personally I don't really care about all of this, I choose shaft car because maintenance is easier on my track.

Engine brake IS the same as automatic braking. Remember, anything above neutral is still supplying power to the motor. You do have deceleration from full throttle in the throttle curve down to neutral, but a tight belt is still a tight belt above neutral position.
