Default JRXS SHOCKS OR TRF SHOCKS

Who makes the best shocks out there?

I am looking for a consistent shock that is not to painful to build.

Will I mess up the geometry of the suspension by using different brands of shocks (Losi or Tamiya shocks) on a FT TC4 ?

Thanks,
E

I just put a set of TRF shocks on my FK 05 for this past weekend for the race at superior and they worked perfectly, very easy to build and bleed, and the car felt better than ever. Just my 2 cents.

I would have to go for the new LOSI shocks.. Great to build, very smooth..

Also the knurled surfaces make it very easy to tighten the caps down.. And their some-what neutral color goes with almost any other color of anodizing out there.

Default Never used the Tamiya ones, but all I can say is that

the JRX-S shocks are great! Only down side is that they are expensive to part together. Losi does not offer kits yet. Great detail and they are very, very, smooth and you have the option of using 1-2 o-rings. I have not had to rebuild mine yet after four months of racing. They are also a direct fit and the Losi springs work great for carpet on the TC4.

TRF all the way. Both shocks are high quality.. BUT.. and this is a HUGE but.... TRF shocks can accomodate almost every other spring, even corrally (i have them on my RDX)

Losi shocks, only losi springs...

I have a brand new set of rdx shocks id sell ya cheap.. i just wanted blue shocks (trf)... rdx shocks are very good as well..
pm me if interest.. im unemployed... I MEAN CHEEP!!

Default Corally shocks

No thanks on the Corally shocks.

Yes the TRF shocks can use multiple brands of springs.

But I think Losi springs are one of the cheapest along with AE on the price of there spring kits.
Also I am not into to all of the different colors from different manufactures of spring.

I like the Losi springs concept that all of there springs are the same color and that each spring is tagged with the spring rate.

So I think I have made up my mind.
I am going to go with the Losi JRX shocks.

Thanks for your time and input.....................................

Later,
E

just put the Yokomo bladder caps on your TC4 shocks and they'll be alot better and cheaper than buying 4 new shocks

"I always run rebound, @ 3/4ths travel. We do have new shock caps coming out with bladders, that will offer adjustable rebound. I have them but have not tried them yet. that is the next step for me."

from the TC4 forum...

Haven't messed with the new Losi shocks. I must admit Tamiya shocks are great but why don't you just stick with the Associated shocks? Once built, they are every bit as good as the TRF shocks. Sure they take a little bit more fussing to bleed but once done, they are perfect. If you are compentent enough to build a car, the 4 Associated shocks will take you maybe 5-10 minutes longer to build than 4 Tamiya.

And anyone that says that Associated shocks need to be rebuilt more often than Tamiya (or any other brand for that matter) has no experience with them or didn't build them correctly to begin with.

Spend the extra $50-$60.00 you'd otherwise spend on the Tamiya shocks and buy something that is necessary to spend it on...like batteries, motors, bodies, spare parts, etc.

I've tried the Associated shocks, Yokomo shocks and the TRF's on my old TC3 and current TC4. I'm currently running the TRFs for setup purposes (I have all the different pistons) The Yokomo shocks seem very nice too, they seem just like the TRF's in terms for rebuilding & quality

The Associated work good too but I find need to be rebuilt more often than TRF or Yokomo shocks. If I didn't already have the TRF shocks I'd probably have just bought some Yokomo bladder-caps for the stock Associated shocks

Default AE shocks will take much longer, I'll never use...

them again. The inside retainer will sometimes come apart and they will leak even if you get the Yoke caps. You can never get them to rebound the same after many attempts. Life was easier when I went to Losi shocks. Much easier. Everyone's starting to go to a screw on bottom for o-rings. Way better.

Go with tamiya's or just stick with the stock ones and buy the Yokomo shock cap and bladder.
