I agree. When I use to got to Japan 15-20yrs ago it was shear excitement visiting even the local toy stores because they had a bunch of RC stuff. Akihabara was the bomb.

Now, unless you go to a specific hobby store YAWN~!!

I can get pretty much anything I want online. It's more my knowledge that is limiting me from finding the real cool stuff I want...which could be a good thing looking at my wallet.

Having been to all the stores mentioned in here. By far the best was RC champ Osaka. It's a bit of a hike from Tokyo. I think we spent close to two hours walking around the store. Plus there is a track upstairs. It was mega grip asphalt but has since changed to carpet.
Still all the stores were better than anything we have here in Aus.

Just be careful what day you go to these stores as some are closed on different days from memory.

Anyone who wants to do shopping at RC champ osaka ( or hobby shops in tokyo ), i suggest to check their business hours first before going there. For examples, RC champ osaka is far away from Osaka city ..... 30 minutes going by subway, the place is the last station on the map, and still need 5 minutes taxi drive from station to there, cost about 1,500 yen..... 5 o' clock the shop is closed .... it happened to me before. You can walk back to train station by 15 minutes walking. Very difficult to find taxi from rc champ osaka.
