Default Check out this vintage pavment pounder!

Who's up for some drag racing?

We bought this Bolink from our LHS a few days ago. We aren't entirely sure what model Bolink it is, but it's definatly a Bolink. Price? $20! I was looking for an nitro truck in the basment of the shop when I fumbled over this sitting ingerly on top of a pile of boxes. Not a bad find! Check out the link below and tell me what you think. We raced it today at our local track and beat an 8T TC3. That's not to shabby for a 20+ year old car! We're just getting started with this thing, we want to run 12 cells. Hope you guys like it!

There's also a video of it at the bottom of the page. Don't forget to check that out as well.

I don't think $20 is that bad for an alright Futaba reciever and a 14T motor. We're shooting to get it up to 60MPH. I am pretty confident we can go past that mark with 12 cells and a Fantom Factory Modified.

This car is a real blast though, and you need to warm up the tires or it goes nowhere. I used to have to do that with my TC3 when I had foams, but these things are nearly 3 Ĺ" wide!

Do you know what this car is? We don't exactly know which Bolink this is.At another hobby shop there is a Bolink Legend, what do those normally go for? When I was new at my track those things were still popular enough to have their own class.

We raced it yesterday at my local track and beat an 8T TC3 in a drag race after we finished cleaning up. That's not too bad! Then we lost to it because we hit a crack and shot the car up about a foot into the air, then lost again by 8 inches, then the setscrew that holds in the axle came out.

I'll let you guys know when our street test movie is done.

Well I updated the Movies page. Got a new video of the Bolink heading down the street. It isn't as fast as I hoped it would be when I soldered up a Fantom Modified, so I think we'll just go back to the old Twisters motor. It went fastest with that anyway, and there was a lot more torque too.

Here's the link to the Bolink page: www.TeamPlatinumRacing.com/Bolink.html

I'd say it was a Parma chassis from the pics on your site.....

The wheels are Bolink, and the pod design is reminisant of an old Bolink. I will look into the Parma chassis because although evidence points us in the direction of Bolink, it's really anyones guess. Thanks for pointing that out!

Would you happen to know which model?

Parma had a few chassis that I can recall....they had a funny car, a vintage 'vette, a Dodge Ram, and a Hemi Coupe, to name a few. Having had an Eliminator 10 back in the day, I can't ever recall Bolink ever using anything but black fiberglass, which leads me to believe that it's a Parma chassis

Cool find, regardless....

We were thinking about installing an HPI Savage Hemi Cuda body, or the Charger body. Something big, obtrusive, and muscly.

Who here still has a Legend?

Alright there is a Legend at my LHS for $75, motor, servo, tires, body (poorly painted) and frame. It's all in good shape (Except for that disgusting body! Blahh..) for $75. I don't really want it for racing purposes, but rather for novelty purposes. In 10 years who the Hell is still going to have one? Just 3 years ago there was a dedicated Legend class at my track, now there nowhere to be found! What do you guys think, yay or nay?

By the way, I am starting to shorten the credit's on the video's. Your right, the space they take up on our server really can add up. I am actually thinking about going back and shortening the credit's on many movies. Great advice James!

The body on there is a Rustler body that we basicly run everything we like off of!

We simply take it and strap it on to a variety of vehicles so we don't destroy stuff. The wheel wells are about the size of grapefruit, but I bought the body for $5 just for these reasons so it doesn't really matter, just as long as it's saving the Tempese that's under it we're all good!

Those do look like better deals! I like supporting the LHS (Especially since we run his races) but it's pretty hard when I can buy 2 Legend's and spare tires for less money than the one he's got in his shop. I guess the shipping putc it over the limit, but it's still the principal.
