In the interest of accuracy I'm using CRC pinions, I'm looking to buy a single allen driver for the set screw in the pinion gear. A set will do, but all I really need is the 1 driver.

I prefer the ball end drivers like Bondus has, any help with driver brand or sizing would be a great help.

(not home right now other wise I'd find it with my caliper.)

Been using my 1.5mm driver and it has a sloppy fit, I've even striped the driver end of more than a few set screws. Can't find my L shaped allens to confirm sizing, but the last time I used the L shaped allen it was the correct size, and fitment was snug as it should be.

CRC pinions have both 4-40 and metric set screws. Its quite a pain. I have CRC pinions from 60 to 80, bought at different times. The 70-80 are all metric and need a 1.5mm driver like my Trinity pinions and my 60-69 old pinions are all 1/16 wrench like PRS. I bought a new 62 last week and it uses a 1.5mm driver.

why could they not just stay with one size? either one would have worked, but not knowing which is which, is a pain.

agree whit slotracer,i also like the set,once bought a tenshock pinions set from 13T-20t from FUNSHOBBY,nice price and good for me.

Set screws come in 3 sizes: 050, 1/16th, and 1.5mm. CRC does everything except for their F1 in standard sizes so likely it is .050 or 1/16th.

they are not all 1/16 anymore. I have at least 10 pinions from CRC that use 1.5mm. I agree they are a good quality product and really like them, but dont count on them being 1/16 or 1.5 mm. My pinions are the same way. Seems like the newer set screws are 1.5mm. Really strange to see a 5-40 with a 1.5mm head, but I love it. Can get rid of the 1/16th out of my bag. I'm wondering if they sell the newer set screws separately so I can replace the 1/16ths.

I only have a couple of CRC pinions but both are 5-40 1/16th but REALLY tight on that 1/16th. Makes you think it's a 1.5 but it's not.

Yeah the new ones are definitely 1.5mm. You can visibly see the difference in size when held next to each other.

I noticed my CRC pinions don't all use the same size screw. Now I know I'm not crazy.

CRC pinions are supposed to be 5-40 using a 1/16" wrench. Apparently some of the set screws were broached with a 1.5. If you would like the 1.5 x 5-40 set screws replaced, CRC will do so free of charge. Send the incorrect set screws, either in a baggie or tape them to a piece of paper and send them to:
