Default Spec-R R2 share thread

Hi, happy new year, I would like to share my experience with my 2015 new toy, Spec-r R2, i'll share the step with some photos. Thanks for watching.
it's come with carbon C-hub/rear hub and steering block, carbon suspension arm also. Open box with front spoon and gear differential.(I'll buy one more gear differential, this gear differential can use in front or rear.)

It was released Jan 2nd and has double jointed cvds up front. These won't be available on the version released in China and Hong Kong though.

then, the front and rear bulkhead install, in between the left and right bulkhead is 22mm, in the photos showing how I try do make it properly and make the gap is 22mm.

1-I'll start to install the left rear bulkhead, and will pair it with a hudy block, try to make it strsight.
2-prepare 2 10mm block and 2 1mm spacer, set it together to be a '22mm tools'
3-put that 'tools' in betwen left and right bulkhead while install the right rear bulkhead, that's can help to install it easy in 22mm.
4-use a steel ruler pair with the rear bulkhead to install the left front bulkhead.
5-do it in the same way of the rear right bulkhead with that 'tools'

I like the colour combo.

Not too sure about the quality of the bulkheads and motor mount, they don't look very clean.

Are the body posts on the same position as the R1?

Have the plastics impoved?

Does it share many parts with the R1?

Where has it in stock?

sorry for my photos not clear enough.
the plastic end cap look different with R1, seems it've got improved.
and as earlier post, the C-hub/rear hub/steering block/suspension arms were stronger plastic with carbon.
actually the servo mount/ gear differential/ carbon C-hub/rear hub/steering block/suspension arms were the option parts of R1, now come with the R2 in box, and release in same price with R1, for me, it's a good deal.
As I still have some spare parts of my R1 still can use in R2(also my S2).
I'll try to use my R1 body on R2 when I've done.

Thanks.

I look forward to seeing it completed.

I'll probably end up getting one as I love my R1 Pro Spec and it's great to hear it shares most of the parts.

About assembly the spur gear, need to tight the flat head screw level with the gear holder, but need to play attention not over tight to make the screw end come out in other side. make sure both side should be flat, cannot see any part of that screw.Spec-R R2 share thread-cimg0813.jpg

Front spoon assembly, try to put that pulley cover completely stick on that pulley.
and the order to install should be: collar/ bearing/ bearing holder.
Play attention when you tight the 14mm screw to lock the spoon joint, too not over tight, if not, you may make the screw at other side lose.Spec-R R2 share thread-cimg0817.jpg

Gear differential assembly, the gear differential in box of R2 is the option part for R1, the HD gear differential.
Prevent the silicone leaking, I'll use Team Associate Green Slime on the o-ring and joint shaft.
Before fill in the silicone, I'll do a pre-assembly, let see any problem and solve it out.
And I'll fill the silicone just cover the cross shaft is fine.
