I am by no means an expert, but I would recommend the D3. I have a completely stock tt01 and am now planning on moving on to a Sakura D3, after several hours of trawling and researching. From my experience I have never had any problems with any Tamiya product. Beware, the Sakura D3 needs several upgrades. At least a belt tensioner and Wide angle drive-shafts.
