Anyone using a JR3650 mini servo in an xray x12? I've never used shoe goo so I'm hesitant. Is shoe goo the way to go or drill holes in the chassis?

Shoe goo does work great if that's your only option. I don't have an Xray so can't help there but I have shoe gooed a few servos in my time. Just apply it, position the servo and then I clamp it down with a big C clamp to hold it in place while it sets. Just firm enough pressure to hold it in place without squeezing everything out.

And if that's what you have to do, it's worth it. That's one bad mother of a servo.

Thanks, I picked up two today. My local place had them on sale for $75 a piece so I grabbed them. Just couldn't decide if it was worth drilling holes or if shoe goo was good enough.

I used Shoe Goo with my X12 '15 and JR servo...but there is a slight problem. The servo is more off-set than what the car is made for so if you use the shock mount in the forward position the servo will not center in the chassis. I wanted the option to be able to switch between forward and back shock mounts so I just mounted the servo a little off center. Normally I wouldn't do this but it doesn't seem to have affected it in a way my skills would be able to detect.

Drill holes, I've seen too many cars have their races ended when the servo moved because the glue separated from the chassis.

Get some servo tape from TOP. iVe been using it to hold my servos in for about 3 years now. Clean both surfaces well and stick it down. Never moves, never comes off. And I hit stuff HARD lol. I know you think I'm partial cause I run top but trust me the stuff is amazing.

Do it right, that wont happen.

And I've lost a race because the servo ears broke off so bolting it down is no guarantee.
