Motor

check this out they reacon this moroe can do 158,000 RPM  , i can hardly see a motor holding together at those sort of revs let alone a motor with love hearts cut into the can, and it would have to be like a 1 X 1 :tire:

That's hilarious    I hope Trinity and Orion are reading this thread. Then they can stamp love hearts, or as their known on the streets "speed hearts" into their motors to triple the rpm's.

Maybe they measured that motor in revolutions in MegaSeconds.

wow   what would the top speed be if u straped that into the new xray and lighten it up all the way
i wish i had one of those even though i wouldnt be able to even think when i punched the throttle

Revolutions Per Month :p

Superkarter 09-18-2005 01:22 AM

158,000 RPM still seems pretty insane for a slot car motor. with that sort of rpm there would be slot cars doing 70+Km/h

Rossco 09-18-2005 01:29 AM

i think they may be an extra 0 added on to the end, its prob sposda be 15,800 rpm
then again he has heaps for sale and they all have that on the package :weird:

I think thats bullcrap really. I don't know if these little 280 sized motors come in different forms like modified, stock etc, but i have one of these and it certainly doesn't spin 158,000rpms.

THEYll be using that scale model ratio, like the equivalent if it was a real size car. If it did that much itdbe hitting like 70mph

raving-monkey 09-18-2005 05:40 AM

well if you think about it...it could technically be possible.

these are about 120 size motors or something, and if you put a crazy high voltage through them..ie 11.1v lipo then they could get upto a very high rpm.

even them mamba BL's for the 18th scales can reach 90k at 11.1v.

remember, most figures like these are given with no load applied..

also, think about it like a nitro engine..smaller engines rev higher because of the smaller stroke....the distance the armature has to spin is much greater on a 540 compared to a slot car motor (might still be 360deg but the actual distance is much less) so it should rev higher if ran under the same conditions.

I guess you guys never fooled around with the "adult" version of Tamiya 4WD 1/32 scale slot cars !

Over here (and in Hong kong) they race these things seriously and the car are really freaking fast. ....put it on the track, let go and you''ll only see a blur as the car zooms by, they can only sustain a couple of laps before the motor fries. ....try and catch the car with your bare hand and you risk breaking the bones in your fingers.

.....believe they are refered to as "metal cars"
