30 sponsored drivers? I don't know about that. Yokomo, Tamiya, X-ray, and Associated has a strong presence at the worlds and that encourages local drivers to pick their car. I've also seen X-ray provide a care package to anyone driving their car at the worlds. I've heard Yokomo did the same at another race.

I've been around the RC world since the 1990's, when Cliff Lett
who broke the electric speed record with the Associated 10L narrow
that was my first car because my local hobby store recommended
this kit....I had no ideal who ran this car.

One thing that I've notice over the years attending Gas & Electric
worlds...whoever wins the race more people will buy that particular
kit and sales will go up on that kit.

When Joel Johnson won the electric on-road worlds with trinity everybody
wanted purchase that kit.

When Mike Swauger won the electric on-road worlds with associated
everybody want to purchase that kit.

When I attended the Gas worlds back in the 90's can't remember who won
I remember serpent had won and again the same story.

Here we are in 2014 and still the same story, the kits dominate the A
mains people are going feel the need to go buy that particular kit.

I've seen Top racers move to new teams and produce great results, it
come down to having high level skill set, when you are a great racer you
can win with most top level kits.

I put the question on the forum to get more details of a kit, I really want
to purchase a kit out the box with out all the hop ups...assemble the
car and go race.

Depends on your driving skills, kits don't make you a skill racer, practice many
hours...all the top race have put at least 10,000 hours of practice time, most
people can't put that time in, so results will vary.

I remember back in the day when I practice many hours I would do well in
upcoming races.

Again thanks for all the AWESOME feedback! I have decided to purchase the
Associated TC 6.2 hope to see you soon at a track near you...I do like
travel to sanction races locally and nationwide.

I think we can all agree the most durable and therefore best chassis has to be all plastic, tough as nails and built by Nikko.



RWD rules!!

I still have my half-hobby grade Nikko which is similar to this chassis ... except mine doesn't have these fancy full-travel shocks or independent rear suspension.

I have run all the top brand cars. Xray, tc6, yok d7, hot bodies, tamiya, schumacher and just picked up the arc 2015.
Xray is durable but i felt it needed more steering overall
Tc6 was a fast car, but wasnt too durable.
Yok bd7 was very fast and easy to drive. Not sure on durablility though, as i Only test drove it.
Hot bodies was also a pretty good car.
Tamiya is fast, but i felt it was a little hard to drive.
Schumacher was a stable car but parst support wasnt the best.
And now im currently running the arc 2015 and so far i really like it. Very easy to drive and durable. When most people say its easy to drive they usually mean it doesnt have a lot a lot of steering but this car handles very well. I am definetly happy with it and no regrets.

I wouldn't be shocked. "Sponsored" could be as simple as heavy discount on parts.

I would very much doubt almost anyone at the worlds paid full price for their chassis and electronics.

Very few true privateers can do a race like that. I have a "discount" sponsorship with Serpent and was one of only a few at that low of a level. Most drivers there did not pay for large portions of the event between chassis, electronics, tires, entry fees, and/or travel. I paid for everything...and was outclassed in many ways, including driver skill and equipment. I went for the experience, and had a great time, but after seeing how the top teams and drivers actually do an event like this, I know buying the winners brand is not going to do anything for me as there is so much more to it.

When I went through tech in 12th scale, I had 1 chassis, 1 battery, 2 motors. The 3 Yokomo guys in front of me (unsure who, as it was all their mechanics) had boxes of 10-15 batteries and motors.

First picture is from TC and from where we sat to the end of the tent was all Yokomo. Xray had equal space on the other side of us. ARC, Durango, and some of Serpent were at a table inbetween.

Second picture is from 12th scale and just the raw volume of equipment some people brought.

All these chassis and batteries are not really necessary to guarantee a win... You just need a 2.5t boosted.....lol....

You're so correct!..these sponsor drivers have so much extra
from batteries, tires, motors and etc...that's what it's a major
deal when a non sponsor driver makes it to an A main in major
sanction race.

A privateer will not get the same stuff that sponsored guys have. They get the best batteries/motors with numbers that will never make it to the store shelf. The sponsors put aside those special stock for their racers and sell the rest (rejects) to the general public. If you ever wondered why you just can't get that couple tenths of a second no matter how dialed the car is or skilled you are, there is your answer.

The car itself is just the tip of the iceberg.

And if they truly are un-sponsored, it won't remain that way for long.
