I guess that's the MAIN difference between buying your equipment online and overseas cheaper without any support instead of buying it from your local hobby shop where they will happily service your purchases.

I know it's tempting to get stuff $2 cheaper overseas than at an LHS, but you know... it's a gamble... if the product never requires services then CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You saved yourself $2! Otherwise, you just bought a $XXX piece of equipment that doesn't have warranty and it's junk if it doesn't work. They sold it a few bucks cheaper because they don't have to include the cost of servicing and warranty of the product and apparently you didn't care about the services and warranty when you bought overseas. So there's really nobody to blame!

Bottom line is.... You get what you pay for!
Just a few bucks more for the services, warranty and support of a product is not that huge price to pay. Having something that cost a lot, doesn't work and has no warranty does.

I hope people learn their lessons about buying stuff online overseas and appreciate the privilege and value of having a local hobby shop close to home.

So.... why is the product cheaper overseas to the US? Is this because they dont come with any warranty, even if its a legitimate distributor? Or because its actually a different unit/quality unit to one made in the US?

I am guessing it has more to do with warrenty and the shipping costs in acquiring the product.

Lets see, where to begin. These things come to mind off the top of my head; no warranty, no duty tax, no advertising, no service, lower cost of living thus smaller profit margins, ....etc. The product should be the same item otherwise they are illegal copies and then you run into international copy protection laws.
