Default HPI Club racer - Replacement motor?

I have a HPI club racer with a the speed passion stock racer ultra sportsman 17.5r motor + esc combo. For some reason, my motor stopped working. no damage (barely used actually). it just doesnt turn. I've verified the esc & the receiver are connected correctly. The receiver still works correctly as the steering responds. When i press the throttle on the transmitter, I do see the esc light blinking / reacting to the throttle input.

Maybe I need a replacement? Thoughts / suggestions? car is not raced, and I just realized I have parts for a full aluminium replacement as well.

That's a brushless motor from your description of the winding. Is there a sensor wire as well? If you push it to get it started, will it run after it gets going.

Correct. this is a brushless. Not sure what pin you mean? There are obviously 3 wires going to the ESC, all connected correctly. There is a3 or 4 prong pin that goes to the ESC too.

Three big wires and a harness of smaller wires that all go from the ESC to the motor. If the sensor cable is loose then it could cause it not to run. The sensor board in the motor could be damaged also. That would do the same thing.
