As a side bonus, with a setup like that your battery will last forever.

For my part, I opted to build another XV-01 with a FWD setup that has part-time 4WD assist to improve acceleration. It has the super-sharp steering of FWD with the acceleration of 4WD. I'm super happy with how it came out.
thanks for the info, is good to know how's the front wheel drive setup.

Has anyone driven the black version as yet?
I got mine built few days ago but still need to take it to the track.

I'm mostly curious if Aluminium bumper support and TRF 419 shocks made any difference to the car.

What is the FDR you guys are running with 17.5 motor?

I'm also running normal touring car body on my FF, used to do that on my previous FF04 EVO as well (blue one) as I find it lot better to drive as the weight of the body is lower down.

The shocks look the same as the shocks that the regular FF-04 comes with, except they have black-on-gold anodizing instead of blue-on-black anodizing. I have the same shocks on my TB-04R kit and they feel the same as the regular FF-04 shocks.

Not sure what you mean by "aluminum bumper support." Where do you see that part?

No they are not the same.
Shocks on the FF black edition are the same big bore shocks found on the 419.
As for the Aluminium bumper support, do you have the black version? You should of seen it if yes

I don't have the black version. I had the blue version. Can you tell me which part you're talking about?

The Alu part is in the middle, between the motor mount and carbon holder, its supposed to improve the rigidity.
Still need to drive it to see how it compares to my previous Blue one.

Intriguing. That part was originally carbon-reinforced plastic, and it was very stiff. The aluminum one is probably harder to strip the screw-holes, but I doubt it adds much more rigidity than the original carbon-reinforced plastic piece. That is a very solid assembly to begin with.

That's what I thought as well when I was building the black version.
But according to Tamiya it does stiffen up the front.

Let's see on the track but I doubt it will make significant difference.

I imagine it would stiffen the front bumper against impacts slightly, but that's all.

Drove my FF Black yesterday for the first time, boy oh boy do I like this chassis.
Almost kit setup, but the car was on rails...

Front seems to be more rigid not sure if it's really down to that aluminium support Tamiya introduces with the black version.
Love the TRF419 shocks, they seem to work really nice.

Guess if I was forced to choose the class to run, I'd go for FWD as it's that much fun.

I'll try to post the setup later.

Are there any FWD classes? Or do they just make you run with the 4WD cars?
