I ran the Samix chassis on mine, because the chassis is so rigid it flexis a lot less, they're heavier with a lower centre of gravity. So you'll get this almost dull feel, it's perfect for high grip carpet.

Hey,

Have anybody tried 0.5mm shim under pivot blocks all around in med-high carpet for stock racing? If so, any experience? Looking at setup sheets on petirc looks nobody use it. For 417v5 I used a lot.

Thanks
Marton

Ps: samix chassis works very well!

I'm running 1mm on aluminum chassis in rear . When I was running stock chassis I ran 1.5 mm in rear . It helped my car rotate quicker and get rid of all the roll. I also use thick oil 60wt

Frustrating Day today. Broke 3 C hubs in very light tapping of the boards in carpet racing. This material is Carbon reinforced stuff and I wonder is there any other cars TB Evo or TA0x or older TRF41x cars that have the same shape as the 419 with the other plastic material used that is more forgiving?

I plan to put in an Xray firm foam bumper that goes across the whole front end under the body to help minimize the frequency but this is ridiculous.

For carpet track with board, run the plastic C hub.

Or the 416/7/8 chubs will also fit and are much stronger. Can't slot a DCJ through them and they need a dicky spacer (or fat tuber spacer) to work properly.

Part no. 54031

May actually have first been an option part for a TA04/05 or something.

@cplus

The TRF 416 CHub broke also to much ... only the TA05 CHub works great.

Nothing else work better than the old CHub from the old TA05.

Simmi,

The one that CL mentioned is correct? Part # 51293 for TA05-IFS?

I also just started running my 419 on carpet and killed a bunch of C hubs too.
Plastic and the carbon ones.
I also learned yesterday that the TA05 is the C hub to use.

Are they a direct bolt in or is there some shims or special bushings needed to install em?
I forgot to ask yesterday

They are a direct bolt in. There is actually less slop with them over the 419 / EVO 6 hubs

Ive run on carpet a bit and had some knocks but thankfully (knockknockknock) I haven't broken a hub.

It's a universal problem though, every touring car has this issue (wait for the Xray guys "no not us!"

Simmi, 419X, any update?

Cuda on my tbo4 exotech I put one shim .03 between the arm and Caster block to take some slop away

Look in the manuals

All cars 417, 417X and 417V5 use the old style C-Hub.
But only the TA05 C-Hub is stable enough to touch some marking on track.

I attached some pic from the manual of TRF 417V5. Installing is always the same way with the old style C-Hub from TA05.

Go to our home track, I was with the front wheel completely under a timber limit. Had the car get out with difficulty and wonderful nothing was broken, really those things are indestructible. All other guys were amazed how stable is the Tamiya

It looks to me like the flanged tube(s) in the 419 are slightly different sizes. I don't have any to check, but from memory, the 419 hubs were also a different height. Wouldn't this change the suspension geometry?

Might rummage through the old parts box to double check...
