Deans Fake compared to fake?? and or they better?
 

Are Deans plugs better then Traxxas? I know they are EASIER yo soldier. But are they worth coverting to for that reason. Also my Orion battery packs need a dual setup.

Get rid of all the connectors and just use bullet plugs. Makes life so much easier, and allows for use of shorter wires.

I personally use bullets, but the current TC world champ still uses connectors. Probably because that is what he was used to as a kid. He also still uses stick radios! Groskamp is OLD SCHOOL all the way :lol:

So if Deans plugs work for him, it will definitely work for you. What ever you are most comfortable using really.

You thread title mentions fakes though, that is a hard question. There are good and bad copies out there. Personally I tend to shy away from knock offs on stuff like this - you're saving the cost of a coffee at best usually(?) and there are better ways to save coin in this bobby.

That's probably because Jiles is sponsored by Team Orion and that there is a superstition about the fact that there is less current less with the wires going out from the case instead of the tube welded inside the case... ^^

Raise your hand if you use bullet plugs and can honestly say that you have never connected the wires backwards.

I'm getting back into racing and have switched over to 'Deans' style from bullet connectors. With most older tech, reversing polarity was a minor inconvenience. With todays ESC's etc., the same mistake means instant death. For the majority of racers, issues with increases in resistance and the like are insignificant, dead electronics and the need to replace them would be given a higher priority.:cry:

Most guys I know me included hard wire our motors(no connectors) and run deans on the battery because as has been stated reverse polarity is death. As far as which plugs genuine deans are the only way to go

How about those ginormous EC5 connectors? They look easier to solder and even have higher loading capacity than Deans.

I've fried two battery packs and a speed control using bullet connectors over the course of a couple of years then switched back to Deans. After about 25 years in this and other R/C hobbies, I figured I could handle being responsible enough not to get it backwards. But there's always going to be some distraction around and battery polarity is not standardized. So if you used them long enough, chances are you'll fry something.

I've never reversed polarity on my battery on my return to RC :D

I have also made my wire lengths so that it is obvious which is which. I actually don't think it would be physically possible to stretch it across without touching the belt.

I have never reversed the wires with bullet plugs. I also make it so one wire won't reach the wrong terminal. Not to mention positive is clearly marked with red.

I was going to mention these. All the are is a 5mm bullet connector in a easy plug. If you want to use a bullet style but don't want to screw up and plug in backwards, these would be the thing for you.

BINGO!!! That's why I still like Deans, The real Deans.....

I use Traxxas and never had any problems, even running 4S in a brushless Revo with the Castle Mamba Monster system in it. I never liked how tightly Deans plugs connected which made it difficult to get them back apart.

The EC5 connectors are good too, I have them on the parallel charging board I use. Super huge though, so if space is a premium (like in a touring car or F1 car), they may not be your best bet.

I haven't fried anything while using bullet connectors (yet), so in tight space constraints I stick with those.
