HELP SAVE THE TRACK - CAL RACEWAY
Hey Guys (and Gals) - I'm Joe Myers and I have a R/C Racing Addiction.
I started R/C Racing in the Summer of '85, and have made some great friends over the near 3 decades of racing... One of those is a guy who many in the RC world know as one of THE BEST R/C Body Painters in the WORLD - Charlie Barnes.
Charlie also directs races and runs a track in the city of ORANGE CA that at one time was run / owned by a local hobby shop.
The track sat unused for many years and it's condition went downhill...then Charlie picked it up and has done a fantastic job getting it to be a really fun track - however, there are some issues, which one of the main ones is a tree root is pushing up on the long/fast straight and makes the track almost like asphalt offroad.
The fix is to tear the asphalt out, remove the root(s) and get some new asphalt to try to blend in w/o making other new problems... The estimated fix is about 4000 dollars to do it right.
I decided as a R/Caholic to try to help Charlie out by creating a "GO FUND ME" donation site so other R/Caholic's could help fix and preserve this aweseome track..and make it even better.
We could use your help -
A) We NEED the donations - and if the min $25.00 listed is too steep - you can name your own donation, I believe you just select "other".
B) Spread the word - This INTERNET thing is So Cool in how fast information Can be spread - and that will open this up to even more R/Caholics.
I set this "Go Fund Me" account up as a "ALL or NOTHING" donation site with a 30 day time limit... What does that mean?
Well, it means that NO Donation will be charged if the FULL $$$ Goal is not met by the 30 day deadline - so if you sign up to donate, but the goal isn't met - you are not charged 1 cent.
So check it out, share it with friends Here, At the Track and on Facebook, and please contribute if you can...

(BTW - I personally live over 3 hrs from Charlie's track, only get to race there once in a blue moon, LOVE the facility, and think others would love it if they had a chance to run there too)

You probably have enough money to fix your problem already. Rent a concrete cutter and cut the asphalt where the damage is. Cuts extremely easy. Dig the dirt out where the roots are and cut the roots out. Won't cost you no more than $200 bucks with rental fees. The asphalt guys should be able to put it back together with what you've already raised

Go Fund Me receives 5% from each pledge and We Pay (who handles receiving and dispersing the funds) receives 2% which will get just under $4000.00 raised for the efforts. ($3976 was my rough number) IF the goal is met...

Only $100.00 left to be pledged to reach our FUND level - and still over 3 weeks to get it done by our deadline...

NOTE: There is also a pledge from Dan Apodaca for - $100.00, but it won't be going through the "GO FUND ME" account, so it can't be counted in the total. The $4275.00 MUST be MET through "Go Fund Me" per the way I set up this fund raising effort - and if doesn't meet that total - ALL of the pledged funds are NOT charged and NO money is raised.

Only $125.00 away as of 12:45 pm on Monday - List has been updated...
I leave for work at 2:45, so there won't be any updates after that until 2 a.m. It would be so cool if this goal is reached when I get home...We're SOOOO Close

Our "GOAL" was reached in just 8 short days - THANK YOU to Everyone who made a pledge to support this fund raising effort to repair the CAL R/C RACEWAY in Orange Ca.
We exceeded our $4275.00 goal in pledges with $4300.00, plus an additional $100.00 as a Cash donation, and the above simulated check reflects the actual amount received after Go Fund Me's fees. (Minus Rob's donation that will be in a separate check, because it came in after payment processing started)
