With the standard rear end, they should work. I have not tried with the ARS, but it could be a tight fit since it is a bit narrower.

So, how are y'all liking the '15 vs the '14? Are you find performance improvements, or is it mostly just quality of life?

Coming from a 13 it is a huge improvement. It is way more forgiving and consistent.

Hmm would like to know if the ARS has enough toe change to really warrant the use of ECS's... let us know what it feels like!

Quick question... I know that to run the Tamiya DCJs with an Xray spool, you need tighter cups such as the Smokem ones. But is it possible to run the Tamiya DCJs with an Xray gear diff? Does someone make gear diff cups of similar smaller/tighter design?

Get yourself a set of the Roche T4 DCJs and problem solved. They'll last forever (mine still look brand new after a season outdoors) and don't require any bodgery.

You have more options than that.

You can use a Tamiya spool shaft and outdrives and bolt on an Xray 38 tooth pulley from the old ball diffs (the bodgery here is to machine the locating boss and to drill the holes in the right place which is not that hard once the boss is machined).

For the diff, you can try to find Tamiya outdrives that'll fit the Xray gear diff. I think I have looked at this in the past, but can't remember what I did.

But why would you want Tamiya DCJ anyway?

Or you can use this:

But why?

Xray ECS's come in 50mm and 52mm what is the difference in running one over the other?

For those asking why... just to figure out what's available. I have and have tried Xray, RSD and Spec-R DCJs on my T4. I also have a set of Tamiya DCJs already and there was a discussion about fitting them a while ago. I have the Smokem cups for a spool, but the gear diff situation was my question.

And yes, the general opinion seems to be that Tamiya DCJs are the best quality out of the ones I've mentioned, though I'm really liking my RSD ones.

Is the pin on the tamiya DCJs larger or smaller than xray? If larger, could you just drill out some blades? I can't remember if I have a pair of the xray steel diff outdrives in my parts bag, and whether they use blades or not.

Marginally larger but it won't help because the outdrive ID (and the driveshaft dog bone end) on Xray is 1mm larger.

Xray has made an Aluminium spool with a smaller ID outdrive (it was in fact a one piece affair) for the T1 but you'd be hard pressed to find one.

The c-hubs on the '15 make me think there's something new coming from Xray as far as ECS go. The existing ones are really pretty mediocre compared to the other options out there. The quality is below Xray's standards honestly.

The Awesomatix has the best I've used in terms of maintenance. Tamiya is second for me.
