Default Motor gearing

What size pinion gear should i use for my t3? The motor is a 27 turn SIB epic dual Stack. The spur gear is a 87t 48 p. The hobby shop told me to use a 22 but i wasnt sure.

there should be a gear chart for your truck in the owners manual.it will give you a good starting point.just off the top of my head i would start between 20-22 tooth.
