Default Finally picked up an F1 car - kind of

Couldn't resist this. I had been looking for an F1 for a while and when I saw this one with the new Advan body and the new 1257 swervo included at $120 I jumped on it. Now, what do I do with it ? Those are new Contact foamies and I have the rest of the bodyset and a bag of misc plastic sprues. It is some kind of F103 isn't it ? I'll go through any threads tonight. thanks !

Its a F103GT.

It may be cheaper to just buy a f103 than convert....

Consider that I didn't get the kit box. But I did get the bodyset box. That makes me wonder if it's a GT rather than another version with the body added.

I think most of the places that run F1 have rules like 190mm, rubber tires, etc., so this might require a bit of money and effort to get it legal for an F1 class, if it's even possible to make it legal. Maybe you'll get lucky and find a place that allows you to race this.

I really like that shell. I do think I would just make it a nice looking shelf queen, if it were mine, or maybe put a 4.5 in it and do a few speed runs, just for giggles.

Good luck finding a good use for this one, sir.

Definately F103GT...the GT came with hex adapters to run touring car rims and tires. If you wanted to convert this to a F1 body you would need to change about half of the rear axle assembly, the front steering knuckles, front bearings, F1 body with wing kit, and F1 rims and tires.

Personally I wouldn't convert it...that's a pretty cool car as is. Hope you have the rear wing for it.

Thanks, it does indeed have hexes. But it's missing the top deck and some other pieces so it's difficult to tell just by the roller. Still odd that I got the body box (with a sheet from the online seller) and not the kit box. I have no desire to convert this to F1. In fact if it had an F1 body I would probably have passed. The LM thing is hot hot hot. Not gonna race it but I may run it some being as it is used already. Yes, I have the rest of the body and the decal sheet but will be taking my time on that. I have a several Tamiya shelf queens already so it will fit right in. The body and the servo go for more than I paid for the whole thing so I'm happy.
EDIT the endbell side of the rear pod is not a GT piece, I don't think this is a GT.

Looks like the previous owner replaced out all of the fiberglass chassis parts with carbon fiber parts. With that you don't need the full top deck.

Exactly. Plus the 103 line does not have a top deck other than the one under your shock. They didn"t have a piece that went from the servo to the shock mt. You can get one as an upgrade part but the car actually handles better like it is. I have one of these and two F103 cars and love them. Still get to go play with them every now and then.
